Biomedical and Media Communications

The Mission of the Video Communications Department is to provide a wide range of video, multimedia, and computer assisted communications programs, and video teleconferencing production services to health care and education professionals, primarily those associated with the University of Connecticut Health Center, as well as other State of Connecticut agencies. These services are provided in order to enhance our clients’ abilities to achieve their individual and departmental goals, and to help achieve the mission of the Health Center in Teaching, Research, Patient Care, and Service to the Community.

The range of such communications technology is expanding at a rapid rate and today includes design and production services in linear film and video; animation; satellite, microwave, and ISDN / IP teleconferencing; interactive video; computer assisted instruction; streaming video web services; and interactive graphics. The Video Communications Department is highly capable of and highly experienced in all of these areas.

To remain in the forefront of effective use of communications technologies, the Video Communications Department actively researches, accesses, and develops new presentation methodologies.

To carry out our mission in the most effective way, the Video Communications Department follows a thorough system that emphasizes applied research, individual strategic planning, and total integration of the programs we produce with our clients’ other forms of communications needs.

We begin the process by analyzing all elements that relate to communications development. These include the concept or service to be communicated; the composition of the audience - their level of awareness and their attitudes; other possibly competing concepts and services; budgets; and schedules.

We assume total A-to-Z responsibility from script development and writing through to the delivery of the finished product; we will also assume more limited parts of the process according to client needs.
